Minor Injuries

The nearest minor injuries service is at West Berkshire Community Hospital, London Road, Benham Hill, Thatcham , Berkshire RG18 3AS open 8am to 10pm every day.

They can help with many different types of minor injuries, such as:

• Allergic reactions, like wasp stings
• Burns
• Cuts, including facial cuts
• Dislocated joints
• Eye injuries, and we can refer you to the Eye Casualty service.
• Fractures
• Head and facial injuries
• Insect and animal bites
• Minor injuries after a road accident, like neck strain, cuts, bruises, whiplash
• Sprains and strains
• Unwanted objects stuck in ears or nose

There are some problems they can’t treat such as:

• All minor illness, like earache, cystitis, tonsillitis, skin infections, abdominal pain
• X-rays for spinal, hip, and chest injuries 

They do offer X-rays for some injuries, but they will talk to you about these first.

If you have an acute eye problem then you can see a local optician on an urgent basis. For all ages

FREE service if you are a registered patient at Tadley Medical Partnership (Morland or Holmwood) 

You can self-refer, without needing a GP appointment. What is covered: 

• Blurred vision 
• Eye pain or discomfort 
• Red eye
• Dry eye/gritty/itchy/watery 
• Recent sticky discharge from eye
• Something in your eye
• Emergency contact lens removal
• In growing eyelash 
• A recent or sudden increase of flashers or floaters in your vision 
• Lumps and bumps in the vicinity of the eye 

Not covered and should present to A&E

• Complete loss of vision 
• Significant trauma to your eye 
• Chemical injury or burn

You will be helped remotely or if needed booked in with an optician on the NHS
