As we are unsure how Coronavirus will affect the Practice - Staff and Patients - we are currently handling GP appointments in a different way by using eConsults and telephone consultations. Thank you for your understanding
The NHS and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.
Stay at home if you have coronavirus symptoms
Stay at home if you have either:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.
Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.
How long to stay at home
- if you have symptoms of coronavirus, you'll need to stay at home for 7 days
- if you live with someone who has symptoms, you'll need to stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person in the home started having symptoms
If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has a long-term condition, is pregnant or has a weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days.
If you have to stay at home together, try to keep away from each other as much as possible

You may prefer to see your own doctor but you may consult any doctor. Medically urgent cases will be seen by one of the duty doctors on the same day.
Accidents and Minor Injuries
A nurse is normally available to deal with minor injuries and accidents. In some circumstances it can be advisable to go straight to the Accident and Emergency Department.

Basingstoke Hospital Phlebotomy (Blood Test) Clinic
You can book with our practice or if more convenient use the hospital service. Please note their must be a request for the blood test on the system. If a blood test has not been planned by your GP or hospital doctor then please contact the practice befoehand. For example, if your are due a blood test before your annual medication review.
The phlebotomy service at Hampshire Hospitals on all sites will be changing to an appointment only service from Monday 23 March until further notice. Appointment capacity has been increased as has the resource to answer calls and book appointments.
The Trust is currently restricting patient and visitor access and would ask that, where possible, patients attend for their appointment unaccompanied. Where this is not possible only one person should attend with the patient and children should not be brought on site

Please note that if you are able to call in the afternoon, lines are often less busy and you may have a shorter wait.
We also offer a call back facility so you do not have to wait on the line when we have lots of callers.

Extended Practice Opening Hours
Additional appointments are available for patients to pre-book in advance. Please be aware that the surgeries are not fully open at these times and access is by appointment only. The dispensaries will also be closed.
Friday evening and Saturday surgeries run every other week.
Friday evening surgeries alternate between Holmwood and Morland. You will be told which surgery to attend when you make your appointment.
Saturday surgeries are held at Morland Surgery.
Between 17:00 – 18:30 the doctors are available for urgent matters only, if you have a routine request we would ask that you telephone the surgery when we are next open. Reception is still open for appointment booking and cancellations.
If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:00 if you require a home visit.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.
You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
All patients are entitled to a second opinion, and to a choice of secondary care providers within the constraints placed by the Clinical Commissioning Group.
If you would like the opinion of another doctor or nurse in the Practice, please feel free to ask your usual doctor about this.
Cancellations & Reminders
Cancel an Appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow the appointment to be offered to another patient. We have dedicated cancellation message service available when you telephone the practice or, if you receive a text reminder of a forthcoming appointment, you have the option to cancel via text messge.
Late For Your Appointment
Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.
If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and this will be arranged for you.
Text Reminder Service
We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.
